Name: Don’t Stay Constricted For: Social Structures final project Type: GraphicsWhen: 2012Description: This poster was designed with the intention to inform the general public of the importance graphic design is, and how, even though it is a 2-D form, it truly impacts viewers, and is not any lesser than 3-D sculptures or artworks. I have come across many who view art as pieces that would be viewed in a museum or gallery; not everyone takes graphic design seriously as an art form. To go along with this idea, I created the shape in a 3-D formation, which is meant to compare the spatial atmosphere of a shape with the 2-D form on paper (this can be viewed here).

Name: Chaos of the Universe—The Disorderly Attractor For: Physical Structures Project - Final Assignment Type: 3D StructureWhen: 2010Description: The scientific attractor is defined as: a point in the ideal multidimensional phase space that is used to describe a system toward which the system tends to evolve regardless of the starting conditions of the system (can be any shape or form, and yet still remain close even if slightly disturbed). The Lorenz Attractor is an orderly diagram of this idea; that the universe is parallel in a sort of way. For example, if you roll a ball off of a table, gravity will allow it to fall off and land in a certain direction. If you again place the ball in a similar (but slightly different) way as before, it will roll off the table in the same direction. I wanted to build this diagram, but with the similar idea that the universe is, in fact, an unorganized and mess of a place (at least in humans’ minds). This was created by dyed yarn and draped by holes in the back of the box with the yarn tied together.

The assignment required any shape, only one shape (identical size) could be used to create any flat, yet 3D object that is inspired by a personal memory. I created this “waterfall” from the inspiration of icicles within a frozen waterfall.
